Friday (10/25)
In a repeat of the season finale, Manitowoc Lutheran faced off against Reedsville on Friday night. Lutheran was looking for a repeat win while Reedsville was looking to avenge the 14-7 loss at Lancer Field. Lutheran the 6 seed traveled to Reedsville the 3 seed to face off. The game started with Reedsville marching down the field and scoring a touchdown on the first drive of the game. Lutheran tied the game with less than a minute to go in the half when Jaymen Ott (So) hit Gabriel Stuebs (Sr) in the corner of the end zone for the touchdown. Josiah “Money” Martin (So) tied the game with an extra point.
On the opening drive of the second half, Lutheran marched down the field and capped the drive off with a touchdown pass from Ott to Derek Laabs (Sr). The Lancers took a 14-7 lead in to the 4th quarter. Reedsville had an opportunity to take advantage of a Lutheran fumble but quarterback Ben Prochnow’s pass was intercepted by Isaac Wagner (Jr) on third and short. Reedsville had another opportunity to tie the game or take the lead late in the 4th quarter. Multiple penalties on a punt return gave Reedsville the ball on Lutheran’s 9 yard line. In a game that had both defenses playing well, Lutheran’s defense stepped up and Wagner got his second interception of the night in the end zone sealing the victory for the Lancers.

Saturday (10/26)
Congratulations to all of our cross country athletes on a great Saturday! Our top place finisher for the girls team was Selah Schulz (Sr) who placed 22nd overall with a time of 22:10.0, which was a course PR (Personal Record) as well as a career PR! Seniors Addison Korte and Maren Dewane set course PR's in thier final race of their careers. Elizabeth Vogt (So) set her PR in the last race of the season. The girls finished 5th out of 24 teams. Last year they were 15th, so a huge improvement for them, congratulations on a great season!

The boys finished 2nd and earned a trip to State! It is something that had been on the radar all season but throughout the season it took each one of them at different points with different strengths to contribute. They helped each other and were able to work together to qualify. Only 16 teams make it to State so this is a big deal and another opportunity to race with the best next week.

The Lord wrestled with Jacob long ago, and He is a vital part of the Jr. Lancer Wrestling program today. In this Christian setting we seek His blessing as we learn and train, developing the skills He has given each boy to their full potential. Rise or fall, we always stand victorious, “connected in Christ.”
PURPOSE: Wrestling instruction at MLHS is geared to the age of the student. Beginning wrestlers are presented with basic foundation skills, and new skills are introduced each week as wrestlers progress. Emphasis is placed on step-by-step mastery of each move. Understanding all principles involved will make the wrestler successful in competition. Presentation of guidelines for proper conditioning, nutrition, and exercise is included. Jr. Lancer Wrestling maintains a balance between mat work, instruction, and FUN.
COST: There is no cost to be a Jr. Lancer wrestler. Participants pay only the registration fee to tournaments in which they participate (about $25 per tournament). However all parents are required to help at our youth tournament
WHAT TO BRING: Wrestling shoes, gym shorts, and a close fitting t-shirt. Head gear is not required but is a good safety tip. LOOSE clothing can be dangerous and will not be allowed. Participants are to come ready to wrestle, but wearing street shoes; wrestling shoes should be worn ONLY in the wrestling room.
