The Lancer wrestling team had an exciting and competitive day at the Kewaskum tournament held on Saturday (2/1), showcasing their skills and determination against a variety of opponents. Overall, the team delivered strong performances that highlighted their hard work and commitment to the sport throughout the season. Among the many impressive feats of the day, the standout moment was undoubtedly Hannah Kunstmann's remarkable achievement as she earned her very first win on the mat!
In a thrilling match, she managed to pin her second opponent late in the third period, showcasing both her tenacity and skill. This victory is particularly significant as it marks not only a personal milestone for Hannah but also represents the first win for a girl on the mat in the history of our school, a moment that will surely be remembered and celebrated for years to come! Hannah's overall performance at the tournament earned her a commendable fourth place finish, reflecting her hard work and dedication.
Richard Kang also demonstrated his prowess on the mat, wrestling with great toughness and determination. He executed several impressive takedowns, showing his ability to control the match and put pressure on his opponents. His efforts contributed to the team's overall success and showcased the depth of talent within the Lancer wrestling squad. Meanwhile, Zedao Li continued to build on his previous successes, achieving his second win of the day by pinning one of his opponents, further solidifying his reputation as a formidable competitor.
Connor Sehloff had a solid outing as well, finishing the day with a record of 2-2, which earned him a respectable sixth place in his weight class. His matches were filled with moments of grit and determination, and despite facing tough competition, he held his own and demonstrated the potential for future growth in his wrestling skills. Collin Rounds had an outstanding day, going 4-1, which highlights his competitive spirit and ability to rise to the occasion in each match he faced. His performance was a key contributor to the team's overall success at the tournament.
Emett Brodtke, once again, proved to be a leader for the Lancer team, finishing the day undefeated with an impressive 5-0 record, ultimately securing first place in his weight class. His consistent performance and ability to execute strategies effectively set a positive example for his teammates and played a significant role in the team's overall success. The Lancer wrestling team left the Kewaskum tournament with a sense of pride and accomplishment, having not only achieved personal milestones but also strengthened their bonds as a team. The experiences and lessons learned from this tournament will undoubtedly serve them well as they continue their season and strive for even greater achievements in the future.
Junior Lancer Wrestling Help Needed
We are looking for volunteers to help work the canteen and also for food & beverage donations. This is a big day and ALOT of people come through our doors that day to eat. Join in the FUN & please volunteer to donate food or work!! Proceeds all go to the Academic Voucher Program which provides vouchers to all students(Grades 3-8) that participate in the Academic Fair in April at Manitowoc Lutheran High School.
