The third week of Manitowoc County High School hockey in over a decade saw the United team achieve their first JV and Varsity win of the season. Sophomore JJ Sweney started for the JV team on Friday December 6th and tallied a point with a nifty assist contributing to the team's 4-1 win over Waupaca. Sophomore Reed Bartz also suited up and played extensive minutes in the JV win bringing the JV team to a 1-0 record on the season.
The Varsity achieved their first win of the season the very next night, Saturday December 7th . MLHS Sophomore JJ Sweney saw his name penciled into the starting line-up for the Varsity tilt vs Shawano. While MLHS Sophomores JJ Sweney and Reed Bartz played well, the night belonged to the Captain Benson Dickrell (Junior Manitowoc Lincoln) who scored 4 goals while leading the United team to a convincing 5-1 win over the Ice Hawks from Shawano. The Manitowoc United Varsity team sits at 1-3 on the season.
