Lancer Express February 28 - March 4, 2022

Staff Message - Joel Ungemach

Family! It has been a blessing in my life! If you know me well, you know that I come from a relatively large family (I am the youngest of six) and that my wife and I have been blessed with six awesome blessings of our own. I sincerely cherish the wonderful relationships, love, and support that God has blessed me with through my wife, children, parents, siblings, and extended family. My time spent with family is always special and held dear. We belong to another family blessed by God, the Lancer family. Over the past 18 years my family and I have been embraced by wonderful Christian brothers and sisters here in Manitowoc. Whether it has been working daily with faculty, staff, and students or having the opportunity to connect with alumni and supporters at MLHS Sundays, concerts, athletic contests, or performances, it has been a true blessing to be a part of this “Lancer Family”. This family is not just a term that we throw around when we want to feel connected at MLHS. I have witnessed through triumph and tragedy just how much this family sticks together and supports one another. The family of believers at MLHS is a true blessing! In fact, Paul writing to the Ephesians spoke about the bigger family of believers. He wrote, “So then, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household.” (Ephesians 2: 19) Lancer Family: Continue to support one another in love! Cheer one another on! Hold each other up in prayer! We are family under God! 😊

MLHS CALL UPDATE

MLHS recently issued a call to Keturah Hochmuth to serve as Student Resource Coordinator. This is a new position that absorbs the position of Learning Coordinator previously at MLHS and adds to it not only working with students, but also helping to diagnose students' needs, coordinate help, assist teachers in accommodations, and be a part of the newly formed Lakeshore Lutheran School Special education committee. This position will also help to begin the Special Needs Scholarship program (SNSP) at MLHS which will allow families to get a free tuition voucher for their child who may require academic help. This position will not be a teaching position but rather a resource that both teachers and students can use. Corey Marohn, who serves as part time Learning Coordinator, will shift to full time curriculum coordinator not only for K-8 but also f 9-12 as well. Pastor David Frey has returned his call to serve in our theology department. Please keep Keturah and her family, and MLHS in your prayers.

Senior Ads for the 2021-2022 Yearbook: The Excalibur

This year has been busy and productive! Because pages are so precious, the yearbook staff has set aside six pages for senior ads. They are available at a first come, first served basis. Unfortunately, when the pages are gone – they are gone. Last year, six pages were used without the yearbook staff really knowing how many pages we would need, so we are hoping that will be enough for this year. (Update - there are only 2 pages left to fill; so don't wait!!) Email the photos and sentiment you would like to Mrs. Kock and the cost will be added to your TADS. kkock@mlhslancers.org

Page prices: ½ page: $60 ¼ page: $40 ⅛ page: $20

Marketing Class - Online Store!

Looking for a new way to support students MLHS and the Capital Campaign at the same time? In a new ‘Marketing in the Digital Era’ class this semester, a group of Juniors and Seniors, with the guidance and supervision of Mr. Gurgel, has created an online store with various Lancer apparel and items available for purchase. In this class, students read in an online textbook and use strategies they learn to help improve their shop to drive in more customers. Every student has come up with their own product to design and sell in the shop. All profits made will be donated to the Capital Campaign fund. Please check out our shop at lancerlounge.com!
